Listen and watch closely because something is always happening and time often flies by without appreciating the chaos before us. Enjoy...laugh...visit often.
For those that went to Clarkson you know how much Pat Bentar means to us. Well last night we (Donna, Lisa and Shumways wife, Joanna) went to see her live in concert at the Bank of America Pavillion. I should probably mention that REO Speedwagon opened for her, man they had some oldies but goodies (heard it from a friend who...heard it from a friend who....). Let me just say that we all agreed it was one of the best concerts we had been to, she played all her hits and she sounded like she did...um 30 years ago...yes, I said 30. Apparently it is her 30th anniversary and did you know that her video was the second one ever played on MTV? Learned a lot last night. Well we really hope she comes back next year because we could be groupies.
Oh and for all my Phi Sigs, she did We Belong and I did a little video for you guys. We stomped our hearts out and wouldn't have done it any other way. Miss you. XOXO
Last night Nana Banana came over for dinner. Nothing special, Nick grilled turkey tenderloins and then we had lots of veggies and rice. However it is always special when our favorite little Nana shows up. I don't know why but we somehow we got to talking about feet, next thing you know, Nana was smelling mine and put her entire nose right in my sock. Now mind you I spend the entire day in heels and then I had just worked out into a sweaty mess for about an hour before dinner, so my foot was not where anyone's nose wanted to be. This was Nana's reaction...I had to share because it was one of those things that just makes you laugh. Her bony little middle finger is just so wrong but so funny...hehe...some days are just silly.
I know it is only August, but we went ice skating this last weekend! It was actually a great place to cool off and it sort of made me look forward to the Fall (notice no mention of Winter...oh damn I just said it). Zach had this "thing" at the Boch Ice Arena where there was a free skate, food and his friend was doing a wood carving for Ernie Boch. It was pretty cool and our friends, the Well's, joined us which made it extra fun. Colton and Rich hit the ice with Chris and I while Nick, Donna and Angela cheered us on. Naturally the boys enjoyed sitting in the penalty box...umm can I get one of those for home? It would be a perfect time-out spot...don't you think?!?!
Thanks yet again to Uncle Zach, he gave us tickets to the preseason opener game yesterday. The Patriots played Super Bowl champs, New Orleans Saints! There were six of us that went: me, mom, Nick, Colton, Phil and Riley. We decided to all pile into Phils truck since it sits 6 and we had the kids singing songs and entertaining us the entire way, (mental note, must get performances on video), it worked out well though because mom has a handicap plate and we were able to score a front row spot for tailgating...woot woot...(another mental note, bring mom christmas shopping for optimal parking spot). haha. Patriots Place is just the coolest place ever, with all the stores and things to do, we decided to pass the football most of the time and to watch the hall of fame induction and go shopping at the pro-shop. Colton won the verizon football toss game they have when you first walk in, you have three chances to get it in a hole, he got all three shots and won a t-shirt, quite impressive, people were cheering and he may have done a touchdown dance...god help me. The stadium is so big but really there isn't a horrible seat in the house, however, the kids have no idea how spoiled they were because we were 14 rows from the 20 yard line. The seats were ridiculous...you know where you see all the players, can yell to them and they hear ya...not sure if they get that in a normal situation we would be at least a 50 rows back and sitting in a nose bleed section. We got there so early we were able to see Tom Brady warm up, both teams do drills/warm ups and even meet Pat the Patriot. I don't think that Riley and Colton could have enjoyed the game any more than they did, I am pretty sure I heard them say a few times "best day ever"...melts this moms heart.
Heidi, Lisa, Jen and I went to see Counting Crows and Augustana at the South Shore Music Circus. It was a great venue, show and night out with the girls!
To celebrate Alicia turning the big 3-0 her parents had our families over for a pool party/birthday celebration. The kids love going to Manny and Joan's because they have a diving board and a slide. Alicia's sister also has 5 kids so there are lots of other kids to play with! They swam pretty much the entire time we were there...these kids are like fish!!! Another great time with the Rosas and happy birthday Alicia!!!!
Last weekend we went down to Plymouth to have dinner with Wally & Leighton. Nana came also and then Brayden had a sleepover with Colton. Nick and I treated then to a late night ice cream on the way home from dropping Nana off. :-)
